What better way to celebrate Earth Day than with a free plant and amazing weather? Our Apartment Life Coordinator, Joyce, organized a fantastic Plant Pop-Up Event for the residents in Hampton, and it was a blast! Joyce had a wide variety of plants and gardening essentials for everyone to choose from, making it a fun and interactive experience for everyone. Gardening is an excellent way for families to connect with nature and develop a love for the natural world. It's also a great way to cultivate patience and responsibility as you nurture and watch your plant grow. We're excited to host more engaging and successful outdoor events like this one in the future, so stay tuned!

Yesterday, CIG had the pleasure of sponsoring the OakTree Academy Golf Tournament. OakTree Academy is a fully accredited 5-day private Christian school with a "family-like" atmosphere and a creative schedule. The school recognizes that every student is unique, and it strives to create a safe and nurturing environment where creativity flourishes, relationships are formed, and the love of Christ is modeled in school and the community. They believe in the importance of loving and glorifying God, supporting parents, and promoting strong families. Their goal is to guide their students to develop spiritually, morally, socially, and academically, helping them reach their full potential. OakTree Academy's dedication to its students is truly inspiring and a testament to its commitment to building a better future for all. CIG had a great time supporting all the fantastic people at OakTree and believes that building relationships and participating in charitable events can strengthen our impact in communities and partnerships. Our goal is to foster a culture of giving and provide support for those making a real difference in the world together!

Earlier this week, CIG had the pleasure of hosting Kevin Turpin, the President and Founder of the Life Enrichment Center (LEC) of Norfolk. The LEC is a non-profit organization that provides literacy tutoring and other life-enriching programs to elementary students in Title I Schools and communities across Virginia and into North Carolina. During his visit, we learned that they offer literacy-based computer lessons to children from underserved communities who are reading below their grade level. The LEC also matches these children with a tutor who works with them once a week for a full academic year. By helping these students achieve reading proficiency by the end of third grade, the LEC is providing them with a chance to excel in their current and future academic pursuits, therefore, increasing their chances of graduating from high school by four times. CIG is exploring collaborative efforts with the LEC that will undoubtedly make a significant impact in our communities by providing educational support that will increase life opportunities!

We are excited to introduce Tony V. Harold, who has recently joined our CIG IT Team! As the IT Director at CIG, Tony's primary responsibility is to manage our IT infrastructure strategically. He leads initiatives to optimize our systems, identifies areas for improvement, and collaborates with IT teams to ensure a seamless and efficient technology environment that supports our operations effectively. Tony also oversees a project to enhance device security, ensure compliance, and deploy strategies to protect our systems. Not only does he bring exceptional skills and knowledge to the table, but he is already intertwined with the CIG family, with his father Tony being one of our six founding members and his brother Armon serving as our Assistant Director of Operations. We're grateful to have him with us, and we look forward to working together to achieve our goals!

At KEV, we take pride in creating a beautiful, safe, and welcoming environment for all our residents. We understand that even small changes can make a big difference in transforming our property into a place that truly feels like home. By regularly trimming overgrown bushes, planting vibrant flowers, and adding fresh mulch, we can create a landscape that inspires and delights. We recognize the value of trees and shrubs in adding both beauty and shade to our communities, so we provide regular trimming and care to keep them healthy. With a well-maintained landscape, we can prevent soil erosion, improve water management, and make our tenants happier. By prioritizing spring landscaping, we can unlock the full potential of our property, increase its value, and create a truly beautiful space for everyone to enjoy. Take a peek at these stunning photos from Aden Park and Ebbetts Plaza! They are great examples of the beauty that quality landscaping can achieve.

At KEV, we are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents and staff. Our maintenance team has recently taken a vital step towards achieving this by attending a mold training class hosted by First Atlantic. We strongly believe that mold prevention in rental properties is crucial, and we are proud to be proactive in taking prompt action on any underlying or hidden issues that could contribute to mold growth. The presence of mold can result in expensive repairs, cleanup, and severe health hazards, making it imperative to take proactive measures to prevent growth. Mold spores thrive in areas with excessive humidity, roof leaks, poor ventilation, and leaking pipes, making bathrooms, kitchens, basements, and attics ideal breeding grounds. To effectively stop and prevent mold growth, it is imperative to take prompt action on any underlying or hidden issues. Regular maintenance inspections must be conducted consistently to identify and address any such problems without delay. However, the active involvement of our residents is equally important. Educating them about mold prevention and encouraging them to immediately report any signs of water damage or mold growth is of utmost importance. By working together, we can ensure a mold-free environment that is safe, healthy, and comfortable for everyone!
